BWA Launches New Ad Campaign to Curb High LGBTQ Smoking Rates in Chicago
Last week, BWA and the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) launched Take Pride, Leave Cigarettes, a new anti-smoking campaign targeting young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) women of color in Chicago. The campaign raises awareness about the negative health effects of smoking and motivates LGBTQ women of color to stop smoking.
LGBTQ women of color in Chicago are part of several groups that exhibit disproportionately higher smoking and lower quit rates. The ads feature positive images of young, LGBTQ women of color in a healthy relationship, free of tobacco use. They also highlight several CDPH anti-smoking resources and classes to help people quit or prevent young people from smoking.
The campaign will appear in online publications as well as billboards and public transportation in Chicago.
